The Wash Hut

at Myers Memorial UMC

What began as a dream several years ago is becoming a reality this June!

Thanks to the hard work of dedicated teams, the former Scout Hut has been transformed to include showers, washers and dryers, and a welcoming hospitality space. But just as important as the remodeling has been the conversation — thoughtful preparation with trained professionals to ensure we serve our neighbors with dignity, compassion, and respect.

The Wash Hut will have a soft opening on Mondays in June, starting June 2 from 10a to 3p. We’ll open our doors for showers, laundry services, and a warm place of connection. Judy Seay will serve as the Wash Hut Coordinator and would love to help you find ways to get involved. You can also support The Wash Hut through online shopping, helping provide items like scrubs, laundry supplies, and more.

We’re excited to see this dream take its first steps — and to continue learning and growing as we love our neighbors well.

Serving in The Wash Hut

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” — Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

We’re thrilled to invite you to be part of Myers’ new mission to serve the least of these through a ministry of hospitality and dignity. The Wash Hut will have a soft opening on Mondays throughout June, and we need volunteers like you to help us launch with warmth and grace.

Each shift includes three key stations:
  • Outside Greeter – Welcome guests and direct them where to go.
  • Inside Host – Check in visitors and explain available services.
  • Facilities Assistant – Help guests use the showers and washing machines.

Before your first shift, please read the volunteer handbook located at the Receptionist Desk (Judy’s desk) for detailed job descriptions and expectations. Our top priority is to make every guest feel welcome and valued. Questions? Contact Judy Seay.  Thank you so much for being the hands and feet of Jesus in this ministry!
