Let’s Go for a Walk

Not just any type of walk but a prayer walk.
Prayer walking is the practice of praying on location, a type of intercessory prayer that involves walking to or near a particular place while praying. They can be as short as a block or as long as many miles. The idea is to use the five senses -sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch – to increase our understanding of our neighborhood.  Yes, the Myers Memorial UMC neighborhood is quite different than most as we are surround by businesses, yet this is our neighborhood.  Who are our neighbors?  In October, volunteers with the Witness committee delivered over 75 pumpkins to our neighbors, and that wasn’t everyone!

On Wednesdays in April, you are invited to gather at the church at 6pm, go for a walk, and return for brief worship service that will conclude by 7pm. We will gather for prayer on April 11, 18, and 25.  You are invited to wear walking shoes, bring strollers for the youngest and dress for the weather. The path will not be the same for all of us and a variety of areas will be designated for varied abilities. Should it be pouring rain, we will still gather to pray, yet not walk.
