Friends,

In the pumpkin patch there is a small box that many of you from Myers have lovingly helped keep stocked. I have had the joy of volunteering with several of you since before Covid 19, and I can tell you it has become a vital part of our church’s ministry.

This little pantry serves members of the homeless community in our area. They have shared with us how much they appreciate it and how important it is in their daily lives. What may seem small to us can mean everything to someone in need.

I would love for you to be part of this ministry. We usually fill the box about one third to one half full each day. You are welcome to bring your own items OR use other donated supplies in the CFC.

If you have any questions, please reach out to me. Trudy Harrington (704-691-5803; email: jharrington13@carolina.rr.com). Thank you for remembering the least and the lost in our community. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one day and one box at a time.

Trudy is asking you to be super too,
With caring hands and a heart that’s true.
A can on the shelf, a snack tucked inside,
Simple, daily kindness multiplied.

A bottle of water, some peanut butter to share,
Small faithful gifts show how much you care.
Stock it with love, let compassion be your match,
Be a hero with Trudy at the Pantry in the Patch.

Here are some items that have worked especially well because they fit easily in the box and are ready to eat:

  • Vienna sausages, beanie weenies, tuna packets
  • Soups (packages or poptop openings)
  • Fruit cups such as applesauce or mandarin oranges, and fresh fruit like apples and oranges
  • Individually packed cookies
  • Water and other beverages
  • Plastic utensils
If you would like to add other food items, please feel free.
