Children are using the curriculum titled, “Live B.I.G.,” a series encouraging each child to “Live Your Belief in God.” This material is solidly based on the Bible. The three main focuses of the material are:

Teaching invitationally … teaching in such a way that children and youth are invited to respond to Jesus’ call to follow Him;

Making disciples … teaching such that all ages are challenged and equipped to live as Christian disciples wherever they are; and

Teaching for commitment … teaching so children and youth can make such life sustaining commitments to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord that they are able to live the abundant and everlasting life.

This new curriculum includes a DVD with energetic instruction and contemporary Christian music. Many of our 5th and 6th grade children are involved in “Pre-Teens for Christ,” a forerunner of UMY, which meets bi-monthly on Sunday nights. Nurseries are provide during both the Sunday School hour, as well as the worship service. Babies and toddlers receive loving care from dedicated volunteers. Four-year-olds are encouraged to attend the worship service with their families for a portion of the service and are provided care immediately following the “Children’s Time.”

Our church follows  “Safe Sanctuary Guidelines” as mandated by our Western North Carolina Annual Conference.

Adult Division

Coffee Fellowship

All adults are invited to meet in the Christian Fellowship Center (CFC) from 9:30—9:45 a.m. for coffee and fellowship before Sunday School

Asbury Class

The Asbury Class is composed primarily of couples and singles in their mid-adult years. The class studies the International Lesson series. Five teachers, who rotate from Sunday to Sunday, offer differing perspectives in their lectures and often lead the class in lively discussions! Social activities are planned throughout the year to give class members an opportunity to know each other better.

Builders Class

The Builders Class encourages intergenerational adults & older adults to learn through informal discussion using the Adult Bible Study series. There is a network of caring that permeates the class and extends to the church family. The Builders Class has become widely known for its service project, “The Little Red School House,” which pays for medical and dental services for children of families who need immediate assistance and do not have the benefit of other programs. This project has been endorsed by both the church and community. Please join us on Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM

Contemporary Class

This class rotates teaching responsibility among class members who are willing to lead. Literature, which is chosen by class members every 4-8 weeks, enriches our Christian faith through the study of social issues and Biblical teachings. Fellowship gatherings occur regularly. The class is open to any age person seeking personal spiritual growth in a caring, open fellowship.

M&Ms (Methodist Misfits)

This class, as you can tell from their name, has a great sense of humor and they enjoy their time together in nurturing their faith. A variety of topics are led by various members. They not only study the Bible together, but share their faith experiences with one another.

New Life Class

The New Life Class is an open and diverse group of adults. Lessons are discussion-based using a variety of curriculum. Many levels of Christian faith are represented in this class. New Life enjoys socials during the year to celebrate friendships. The class welcomes old and new members to this exciting and challenging class.

Rejoicers Class

The Rejoicers Class is designed to nurture Chancel Choir members during the Sunday School hour. Curriculum includes a variety of Biblical, historical and contemporary studies along with discussion. The Rejoicers Class welcomes all persons and all ages. The class especially welcomes choir members searching for a Sunday School home.

The Drifters

The Drifters Class consists of all ages married and single. Our beloved Louisa Suggs leads our class in discussions of everyday Christian experiences as they relate to scripture. Our class name was derived from the fact that some of our class members are also Sunday School teachers and rotate, or “drift,” in and out of class according to their teaching responsibilities. We have regular social activities and we currently meet in the CFC (Christian Fellowship Center) . We hope you will join us!

New Beginnings

Are you between the ages of 23 and 35 and looking for a Sunday School class? Join this class of young couples and singles in discussion of young adult issues and spiritual journeys.
