Following Hurricane Matthew, Myers Memorial UMC sent two teams to do repair work in Lumberton, NC and were preparing to send another team in the coming months. When the time is right, we will be there. Until then…Let us Flood Lumberton with Love from Myers Memorial UMC.

Lumberton has again been greatly impacted by the devastating rains of Hurricane Florence and are expecting more flooding due to the nearby rivers cresting any time now.

Mission Coordinators in the NC Conference of the UMC have reached out to ask for assistance in providing gift cards that they in turn can share with the people they know are most in need.

What you can do:
Purchase Gift Cards in the following increments from these specific stores to assist in providing food and prescriptions and bring them to church when you come between now and Sunday. We’d love to send a box of gift cards on Monday!

$5 McDonald’s Gift Cards
$5 KFC Gift Cards
$10 Walmart Gift Cards
$10 Visa Cards

(monetary donations will be accepted to this project – Make Checks to Myers Memorial UMC and please note your gift: Lumberton)

A Note from NC Disaster Response Site Manager

Friends,

Hurricane Florence has and is leaving her mark on Lumberton and mostly all of the Carolina’s. Most of you know that the Lumberton Site (Jeff/Ann) has extended its boundaries and we just branched off into Columbus County. With that addition and what has happened in the last week with Hurricane Florence, more survivors are going to go without; being displaced, no money and no hope of funds on their own to sustain themselves. This does not even count the homeless population.

I have at this time, 4 trucks coming in (PTL) bringing in supplies and needed contents for “now” living but I need also additional items for food. I am asking all of you to send atleast $10.00 in gift cards. $5.00 only-NO MORE for McDonalds & KFC. $10.00 for Walmart and/or a VISA card. The $10.00 cards will go to survivors who need to get their prescriptions/meds. The $5.00 gift cards are for the elderly who are in need of funds for food. These cards will be distributed to the survivors by this office and also Chestnut Street UMC. We are familiar with the ones that need these additional “funds” and we are all reaching out to as many organizations, churches and groups as we possibly can.

If you can forward this and or relay this email to others, please do so.

Please continue to pray as the Lumber River should by all rights crest sometime between this afternoon and tomorrow morning; as of the last report.

Cape Fear running through Fayetteville is going to crest at 65′ somewhere during this same time frame!!!!    This is going to be catastrophic…

If you and or others can forward gift cards, please send to:
